John Sam McConnell (born December 31, 1975 in Middletown, Ohio) is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher. He played during one season at the major league level for the Atlanta Braves. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the 1997 amateur draft. McConnell played his first professional season with their Class A Augusta GreenJackets, Class A-Advanced Lynchburg Hillcats, and Double-A Carolina Mudcats in 1998, and his last with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League in 2006. He played his last affiliated season for Atlanta's Triple-A Richmond Braves in 2005.
