Sam Maloof (born January 24, 1916[1]) is a furniture designer and maker.
Born in Chino, California, USA, to parents who immigrated to the United States from Lebanon.[2]
His work has been displayed in museums around the United States. All his pieces are custom-made, and there is currently a several-year waiting period for customers who have placed orders.[citation needed] One of his rockers typically sells for about $25,000.[citation needed] In 1985 he was named a MacArthur Fellow. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan have both owned Maloof rockers.[1][2][3]
Sam Maloof currently resides in Alta Loma, California, a neighborhood community in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. On a former citrus orchard are his home, his furniture shops and the site of the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts.
