[edit] Splitting the article
It appears that the American show's fans are, how we say, more verbose than the rest of the world's. Therefore, I think it may be time to launch a page for the US version and leave this one to focus mostly on the Australian editions. The Australian show is more notable than the US version, but the article as it's currently being written makes it seem like the other way around. (American game show geeks are just... geekier, I think) Just to see how it would look, I've taken the US info from this article and moved it to Sale of the Century (US). Let me know if you think it's a good or bad idea. I'd be more than happy to delete it if desired.
However, I wonder now if the British shows' info should be paired with the US, since two out of three of the British Sales follow the original US format rather than the Grundy format. Or, perhaps, even three articles: Aus, USA, and "rest of world"? This is turning out to be quite a complicated project Lambertman 05:24, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
I've got no problem with any of that but in that case I think the current Australian "Temptation" should also have it's own article (given, among other things, the different name). Perhaps the answer is quite a short main article dealing with the general format and sub-pages for different countries. Fat Red 00:55, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- The Temptation section looks like it's an article sitting inside another article. I'd go with splitting it off on its own. RandomEcho 13:36, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Too long before
This page is very long and is in desperate need of a cleanup. I have tried to rationalise it a bit but haven't got very far yet.Fat Red 02:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm ready to help out. See my current revision and LMK what you think. 67.36.143.2 17:36, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
Great, I forgot to log in before I did all that work! 67.36.143.2 is me - Lambertman 17:57, 4 February 2006 (UTC)+
- Well done, I think it's a terrific improvement. Fat Red 10:18, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
This page was recently moved from Sale of the Century to $ale of the Century. I presume the latter was the original name in the U.S., where is makes sense for obvious reasons, but in the UK it was definitely the former (£ale of the Century be meaningless).
I wonder whether the article would be better at "S" rather than "$" - the U.S. version was clearly the first, but what was it called in Australia and New Zealand? -- ALoan (Talk) 09:59, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I think this should be at Sale of the Century. I've never seen it referenced as "$ale" on TV guides or on TV spots, I've only seen it as that in the title sequence, at least in Australia.
I totally agree! "$ale of the Century", is not the name I Know, and I think when people look the show up they will definatley type in "Sale..." rahter than "$ale..."
- Changed back Fat Red 05:06, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] temptation
I dont think its right that the gift shop prize starts at $10.. I've often seen him start at $15, same with the temptation vault I thought was at $15? Cfitzart 02:01, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
- No, the Vault was definitely $10 in 2005, and the gift shop in the 2nd round always started at $10 and in the third round $15.Fat Red 02:37, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Original "Temptation" question
Was the original version of "Temptation" (in the '70s) actually broadcast on Channel Seven, Channel Nine, or both? Maple Leaf fan '04 18:17, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
