Salim T S Al-Hassani is an acknowledged world expert^[1] in the decommissioning of offshore installations and in major plant-related accident investigations. He served as an expert witness in the inquiry into the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster (1988)^[2].

Salim T S Al-Hassani is an Emeritus Professor Mechanical Engineering ^[3]and an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures, Faculty of Humanities, University of Manchester^[4].

Since 1968, Professor Al-Hassani, has published over 200 papers in international journals and books^[5]. He has supervised 40 PhD, 50 MSc students and numerous post-doctoral Fellows from all parts of the world.^[6] He had received numerous awards and holds patents on engineering.^[7]

Salim T S Al-Hassani's special interest is the history of Islamic science where he has made his mark in the application of applied modern engineering analysis to the machines of Al-Jazari and Taqi al-Din, recreating their work in 3D.^[8]

He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Foundation for Science Technology and Civilisation, publisher of MuslimHeritage.com, ([1]) and founder of the 1001 Inventions ([2]) global education initiative. ^[9]^[10]

He is a highly recognised international speaker^[11] on the Muslim contribution to building the foundations of modern civilisation delivering more than 150 lectures and is Chief Editor of more than 300 publications on Muslim Heritage including the best selling book, 1001 Inventions: Discover the Muslim Heritage in our World.

The 1001 Inventions book is considered to be essential reading^[12]^[13] for all Muslims especially Muslim youth in order to change wrong perceptions about the role of Muslim inventions in today’s schools, universities, homes, hospitals, market, cities, world and universe.
