[edit] Summary

Salvinorin crystals magnified 20X. Extracted from Salvia divinorum leaf using chilled acetone, refined to greater than ~98% purity (white portions) through several sequential washes of the extract solids with small amounts of 99% isopropyl alcohol, dried and then redissolved into acetone for slow evaporation at room temperature to produce crystals. The green impurities (chlorophyll) can be completely eliminated through further washes of the crystalline material with just a few milliliters of 99% isopropyl alcohol. Processed and photographed by C. Hazlett.
