Sakar, Mali Zvornik

Sakar is a small village next to Mali Zvornik. It has a population of 504 people. Some of them are Serbs but there are also many Moslems. The village is on the Zvornik lake (Zvornicko jezero). In it's near is the hydroelectric power station.

In 1862. there are only two Moslem villages on the right side of the Drina river: Mali Zvonrik and Sakar. In 1878. Sakar belongs, like today, to Serbia. After this many Serbs moved in this village. In 1954. is the hydroelectric power station is built, so many fields were flooded, and the village lost it's heaths.
