I strongly doubt the assertion that "This applies worldwide." in the copyright info for this photo. I would guess that the copyright law of the United States would apply in the U.S. state of Florida which, as I understand it, is where Wikipedia is located as a legal entity. I note that The U.S. and the Philippines are both parties to the Berne convention. -- Boracay Bill 22:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Not to be contentious here — it just seemed odd to me that Philippine law should control copyright protection in Florida. I see now that parties to the Berne Conventionhave agreed that the copyright law of the country where copyright is claimed shall be applied. As far as I understand it, it does appear to me copyright protection for this photograph has expired in the R.P. and in the jurisdictionsof other Berne convention parties such as the U.S. -- Boracay Bill 23:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
