Sadie Houck

Sargent Perry "Sadie" Houck (March, 1856 - May 26, 1919) was a right-handed shortstop in Major League Baseball for eight season for the Boston Red Caps (1879-1880), Providence Grays (1880), Detroit Wolverines (1881, 1883), Philadelphia Athletics (1884-1885), Baltimore Orioles (1886), Washington Nationals (1886), and New York Metropolitans (1887). Houck had a career batting average of .250 with 666 hits in 2659 at bats.

Houck was added to the "blacklist" at a 1881 National League Meeting barring him from playing for or against any NL team. He was reinstated in 1883.

Houck was born and died in Washington, D.C.
