My mother was born in Westwood, Lassen Co., and my father and his brothers were among the union men forced out of town by the anti-union "vigilantes". I used to see the steam leaking up through the gravel sidewalks in the winter and play in the huge sawdust pile at the mill in the summer (I wasn't supposed to, of course). Westwood and surroundings are very familiar to me; I have a grandmother and uncle buried in the Westwood cemetery, as well as a wealth of memories.
