[edit] Citation Jumping
Citation jumping is when an editor inserts new information between a line of old information and its citation. I.e.:
Alpha bravo charlie.<ref>This is an example</ref>
becomes
Alpha bravo charlie. Delta echo foxtrot golf.<ref>This is an example</ref>
Check out this diff for a practical example
Most of the time, the source does not match the new information. This is either
- (WP:Assuming good faith) the editor sees the end of the first piece of information, fails to see the related ref coding, and starts a new sentance while not realising that the citation belongs to the previous reference.
- (Assuming inherent nastiness, which is A Bad ThingTM) The editor is trying to sneak unreliable, unverifiable, or incorrect information into an article.
