SABMiller, one of the top five global brewing companies,^[1]^[2] owns a portfolio of over 150 brands, including international beers such as Pilsner Urquell, Peroni Nastro Azzurro and Miller Genuine Draft, and local brands, such as Gambrinus and Castle Milk Stout.^[3]

Castle Brewery was founded by Charles Glass in Johannesburg in 1894. It later merged with other breweries to form South African Breweries.

The main brand is Castle Lager, a 5% pale lager introduced in 1895. Castle Lager has won many awards, from gold medals to the "World's Best Bottled Lager" award at the 2000 International Brewing Industry Awards.^[7] It is advertised as "somewhat dry, somewhat bitter, never sweet" and as "the beer that stood the test of time".^[8] Other brands are Castle Lite and Castle Milk Stout.

Kompania Piwowarska (which means in polish just "Brewing Company") is a brewing company established in Poland in 1999 as a result of the merger of two SAB owned Polish breweries, the Lech brewery in Poznań, and the Tyskie Górny Śląsk brewery in Tychy, which was founded in 1629.^[9] The company also owns the Dojlidy brewery. The three breweries have a total capacity of 11.2 million hectolitres.^[10] SAB purchased a majority share in the Lech and Tyskie breweries in 1995.^[11]

The main Lech brands are Lech Premium a 5.2% abv pale lager, Lech Pils, a 5.5% pale lager and Lech Mocny a 6.2% strong lager.

Tyskie is one of the best selling brands of beer in Poland, with around 16% of the Polish market.^[12] Tyskie also has a world distribution. The main brands are Tyskie Gronie, a 5.6% pale lager, and Tyskie Książęce, a 5.7% pale lager.^[13]^[14]

The main Dojlidy brand is the 6% pale lager, Żubr (European bison).
