Saab Ericsson Space was a joint venture between Saab and Ericsson, but is now fully owned by Saab and renamed to Saab Space after its acquisition of Ericsson Microwave Systems in September 1, 2006 (the sale was announced June 12). [1][2] It specializes in space related equipment, for example the on board computers used in the Ariane 5 rockets and the SMART-1 satellite. The company headquarter is located in Gothenburg, Sweden but it manufactures many of its products in co-location with Saab's aircraft manufacturing facility in Linköping.

Founded in 1956 as Ericsson Microwave Systems, the business was acquired by Saab and renamed in 2006. The main market for the company is in the sensor and telecommunications weapons field.
