Janakiraman (aka Jani) heads MindTree’s R&D Services business which offers Product Realization Services to its customers. R&D Services provides product design services through its Engineering Practice and licensable technology building blocks through its Research Practice.

Starting from scratch, Jani has built the R&D Services organization to 900 technology professionals executing projects in leading technology areas for customers like Alcatel, Broadcom, Cisco, Epson, Kyocera, LSI Logic, MindSpeed, Nera, Sanmina, Sun Microsystems, Symantec, Texas Instruments, Toshiba and United Technologies. Product Realization is achieved through integration of Hardware Engineering, Systems and Applications software adhering to industry compliant protocol standards and SEI CMMi Level 5 processes.

Janakiraman has rich experience in building R&D Services organizations through setting up multiple dedicated development centers for R&D divisions of IT equipment vendors, providing architecture, design and development and testing services in the emerging technology space.

Janakiraman holds a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications from the Regional Engineering College, Trichy, India, and a Master's degree in Electronics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He is the Vice Chairperson of India Semiconductor Association (ISA) ^[1] and President of Indo Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (IJCCI), Karnataka.
