Hey! I have decided to move the page to the correct name per your request. May I ask that you are careful in where you put your links to this page, since as a new article this could be viewed by some as spamming. Also, since I have not heard of CoolMUD before (and my interest is in MOOs), where you have sourced this information on this page from? Thanks! Ian¹³_ID:540053 20:34, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi Ian, I was a member of the LambdaMOO community in the early days, and used CoolMUD when it was first released. I assumed its existence was common knowledge, but the external link on the page should provide more source information, including ChangeLogs, etc. from the original CoolMUD source. Note that CoolMUD's author is Stephen White, who is also the first author of MOO, before Pavel Curtis maintained it. I also contributed to ColdMUD (another successor to MOO written by Greg Hudson), and intend on writing a page on that at some point. Ryandaum 21:28, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh great. I can say I have heard vaugely of ColdMUD, but not of the Cool one. A wonderful insight. I currently seem to have taken on the task of maintaining the MOO page, so this information may lead to rather a lot of phrasing changes. Thanks! Ian¹³_ID:540053 21:42, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

MOO of course is the only system of this type to really have prospered, despite its technical difficulties, it had the larger community. CoolMUD, ColdMUD, etc. were all attempts to solve some of the technical problems with MOO (diskbasing, distribution, various language features, refinements in the object model, etc.) but really didn't ever grab a user community enough to make their relative innovations successful. Also, many of the people involved in this kind of work went on to do other things or into 'serious' programming language research, instead.Ryandaum 21:50, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

I was documenting the history of how I came to be interested in everything I'm intererested in, and was including links to MOO and ColdMUD. I was surprised to see a ColdMUD page on WikiPedia, so I checked the history to see who was responsible, and there you were. I have a MOO at pm.thatsnice.org 7777.
