Ryan Anderson (basketball)

Ryan James Anderson (born May 6, 1988, in Sacramento, California) is a second-year college basketball player. Anderson plays the power forward position at the University of California, Berkeley.
On April 3, 2008, Anderson declared himself eligible for the 2008 NBA draft.[1] He did not take an agent, leaving himself the option to return to Cal if he withdraws his name from the draft before June 16.

Anderson is a highly touted power forward in the competetive Pac-10. He has emerged as California's best player, and he led the Pac-10 in scoring in the 2007-2008 season, averaging 21.6 points per game. Although California failed to reach the NCAA men's basketball tournament, Anderson was an essential part of their National Invitational Tournament bid.

Anderson graduated from Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, California in 2006 after winning the state championship. Anderson was third-leading high school scorer in the state of California as a senior in 2005-06, averaging 28.9 ppg. He also averaged 10.9 rpg and 3.9 bpg, shooting 55.8 percent from the floor, 33.1 percent from three-point range (41-124) and 83.9 percent from the free throw line.
