Ruth Culbertson Samuelson is an American politician, currently North Carolina State Representative, representing North Carolina's 104th House district (map) in the North Carolina General Assembly since 2007. From 2000 to 2004, Samuelson served as a member of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, Representing the Fifth District. In 2004, she ran for an At-Large seat on the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, but lost in a tight general election race.[citation needed]
In 2007, Samuelson was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives succeeding five-term incumbent Ed McMahan. Samuelson was elected with 67% of the vote in the North Carolina House election, beating Democrat Paula McSwain. [1]
