This photo dates from 1948. The source is the book Babe: The Legend Comes to Life, published by Simon and Shuster in 1974, authored by Robert W. Creamer. Photo credit is given to World Wide Photos.

A fair use claim is made for this picture to be used in the Babe Ruth article in the section, "Illness." Significant detail is written about Ruth's final illness, and how he struggled with a cancer the last two years of his life. One sees a memento mori in this photo, Ruth the great athlete now pictured fighting with forces that are often beyond our own control.

This photo used in this article is slightly smaller than its source, and is used with less resolution. The fair use of this photo is for educational and non profit uses only.
