Russell Saunders (born January 3, 1989 in Bury) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Wigan Athletic.
[edit] Footballing career
After coming through the youth ranks at the Latics, he was given a professional contract at the end of the 06/07 season. He is very highly rated at Wigan and is seen as a player for the future. He made the substitutes bench for the pre-season friendly vs Blackpool but is yet to play a first team game. He wears the squad number 30.
He joined Conference side Altrincham on a month's loan on September 21, 2007,[1] but an injury on his début against Droylsden cut short his loan spell to a week.[2]
