Russell is a township, located south-east of Canada's capital of Ottawa in eastern Ontario, Canada in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, on the Castor River. Russell Township is located within Canada's National Capital Region.
The township had a population of 13,883 in the Canada 2006 Census.

Most residents of Russell Township reside in the communities of Embrun and Russell. Smaller communities in the township include Felton, Forget, Marionville, North Russell and Pana.
Russell is a predominantly Franco-Ontarian municipality, primarily but not exclusively francophone.

The current council of Russell Township was elected on November 13, 2006 in the 2006 municipal elections on November 13, 2006.

The municipal offices are located in Embrun.

The township is located within the federal electoral district of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. It is represented by Pierre Lemieux (Conservative). The provincial electoral district, also named Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, is represented by Jean-Marc Lalonde (Liberal).
