Talk:Rugby

So "Rugby Football" now redirects to "Rugby" which is itself a broken redirect to "Rugby football". Something's wrong with this picture... --AW

No. Rugby the sport was at Rugby, then someone moved it to Rugby Football, which is wrong whichever way you look at it, so I moved it back to Rugby. Then I thought what the hell, let's put it at Rugby football where it should have been all the time. I then fixed the link at Rugby Football to point to Rugby football. Ok. Mintguy

Have taken "couch rugby" out of the page Zleitzen

This page appears to be obsolete. I have removed some inappropriate and offensive content, but I'm not exactly sure of how to deal with such material. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Channellightvessel (talk • contribs)

Could this page please just be fixed and have "rugby" the subject on the "rugby" page. Rubgy fottball is just lame as you imply rugby and soccer or rugby and league. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.109.211.136 (talk • contribs)

I couldn't agree with you more. This is about the most unnecessary dab page I've seen since Goebbels. Heather 23:49, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rugby should redirect to Rugby Football

Reasons

  1. Views expressed on talk pages of rugby articles suggest that this is best
  2. The fact is that rugby football (a joint article on league and union) is the most prevalent meaning of the word 'rugby' worldwide, far outweighing other uses combined
  3. This set-up is used by many other articles where one usage dominates the rest
  4. links in other Wikipedia articles written as [[Rugby]] refer to the sport not the town or other uses.

A link at the top of Rugby Football to the Rugby disambiguation page redirects anyone who wants other usages so there is no problem there. Rexparry sydney 00:15, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

A similar proposal was made some time ago and rejected (see Talk:Rugby_football#Requested_move). So I don't think so. G-Man ? 00:22, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes I saw that, and AjaxSmack was right: "But if no move, at least rugby should redirect to rugby football and not the dab page". Most of that discussion opposing the move centred on the semantics of the name and at that time there was no link to the disambiguation page at the top of the Rugby football page for those who got there by mistake and really wanted one of the towns, etc. Rexparry sydney 01:11, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Sigh. Each week, we accumulate about 20 new mistaken links to "rugby", and I try to fix them. I just got back from a one-week vacation and found 31 such links. Of this particular group, four were for the town, none for the school, two for the railway station, one for rugby football, and three for rugby league. The rest were for rugby union. This is a fairly typical distribution. My point is that non-sports use of te term is very common, so I think the redirect should be left where it is.The Rugby (sports) talk pages do not constitute an unbiased sample. -Arch dude 00:25, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Simple edit, I just removed what seemed to be a vandal containing the text : RUGZ-the conejumping machine. -StriderVM 11:14, April 23, 2008 (GMT+8)
