[edit] Evaluation of Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Rudget

As you all may or may not know, my recent RFA which closed on the 24th October 2007, at (39/16/1). Here, I attempt to provide a analysis of the request, and where my weaknesses lie.

Here's a day by day analysis:

  • Day 1: 0 votes
  • Day 2: 15 votes - 14 support, 1 neutral. See last edit of 18th October.
  • Day 3: 23 votes - 21 support, 1 oppose, 1 neutral. See last edit of 19th October.
  • Day 4: 28 votes - 26 support, 2 oppose. See last edit of 20th October
  • Day 5: 41 votes - 36 support, 7 oppose. See last edit of 21st October
  • Day 6: 48 votes - 38 support, 10 oppose. See last edit of 22nd October
  • Day 7: 55 votes - 39 support, 16 oppose. See last edit of 23rd October

There was quite a big difference in the voting, in the last few days compared with the first 3, wasn't there?

In the request, I was requested to answer optional questions, but to me they felt inappropriate in length and number. I mean, 16 questions!

So in percentage terms that roughly translates as:

  • Day 1 - 0%
  • Day 2 - 100%
  • Day 3 - 95%
  • Day 4 - 92%
  • Day 5 - 83%
  • Day 6 - 79%
  • Day 7 - 70% - And therefore below the bureaucrat threshold of 75% for a successful adminship request.

It may also be useful to put this into context, as it was after the oppose to Q6. and this question, that most oppose succeeded. A 9% rise in opposition after the oppose of a user, made me slightly lose my cool, although not on Wikipedia.

[edit] Other notes

If the RFA was successful, which in the last few days looking increasingly unlikely, I was offered adminship coaching by Jehochman. See statement below:

Considering the substantial number of oppose comments, Rudget asked, and I have agreed to mentor him whether or not he passes this time. I feel that he can handle some administrative tasks now, and with training, he will be able to handle more in the future. - Jehochman Talk 20:52, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

I declined the request however, as I felt it would only further my own experience, if I did it myself.
