Ruben Fernandez

Rubén Fernández Real is a former Paraguayan football (soccer) player that captained the national team during the 1953 South American Championship won by Paraguay.

Fernández started his career around 1946 in the youth divisions of Club Estero Bellaco, from the city of Villarrica. In 1950 he moved to Club Libertad and after winning the South American Championship with Paraguay he was transferred to the Argentine club Boca Juniors where he played from 1953 to 1956, winning the 1954 Argentine championship. He ended his career at San Lorenzo de Almagro, where he played from 1957 to 1958.

After retiring from football, Fernández became a dentist.
