Template:Rtl-lang is permanently protected from editing, as it is a heavily used or visible template.

Substantial changes should be proposed here, and made by administrators if the proposal is uncontroversial, or has been discussed and is supported by consensus. Use {{editprotected}} to attract the attention of an administrator in such cases.
This template does not have a documentation subpage. If the template page contains categories, interwiki links or usage notes, move these to Template:Rtl-lang/doc. If the template does not require documentation, add |doc=no to this template ({{permprot}}).

this template is based on the mistaken assumption that "dir=rtl" is required for any string in rtl scripts. In reality, this annotation is only necessary in really esoteric contexts. I therefore suggest the template be {{tdeprecated}}. dab (𒁳) 17:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

since the entire point of "dir=rtl" would be proper linebreaking, at the very least this template needs to get rid of its style="white-space: nowrap;" which prohibits linebreaks altogether. dab (𒁳) 18:26, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
