Thank you as well for contributing the article, John Purcell (professor). While all contributions to wikipedia are appreciated, I'm concerned that this person doesn't appear notable enough to merit an encyclopedia article. The relevant guideline, Wikipedia:Notability (people) contains a number of criteria that might indicate this person's notability. Notability is itself controversial, and guidelines are not hard and fast rules, so Mr. Purcell might yet warrant an article. However, I am making you aware of the guideline in case there is some clear indication of this person's notability or importance. Otherwise, the article might regretfully be deleted. Feel free to leave a message here once you've gotten a chance to read the guideline or if there is something special this person has done that might merit an article about him. Thanks in advance.--Kchase02 T 05:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Update I have proposed that the article be deleted. You seem to have gone offline, but proposed deletions take five days, so you've got plenty of time.--Kchase02 T 06:55, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Update Hi there, I'm sorry if I wasn't aware of the rules of posting, this is the first article I've edited myself. John Purcell is a very well known figure around the school (Sheridan College), partly beacause of his teaching style and humour but moreso his unique and sometimes humourous background, which he always shares with his students. Alot of students, and John himself, suggested wikipedia would be a good medium to chronicle these stories, and a transparent way he could verify the story stays consistant. I'm positive many other students will testify to this and John himself.

- Have a look at WP:BIO. If you've got any press coverage of this person, that's usually enough to keep him away from deletion. In any case, what you're proposing is not really wikipedia's purpose. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a story board.
- I'd suggest you try WikiKnowledge. They have much lower standards there. They also have a promise to pay people for articles, though who knows if they will want this. Alternatively, you could start your own wiki for just this purpose: How to start a wiki. You might even try Uncyclopedia if they're good stories. Regards.--Kchase02 T 16:13, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
