Railroad car barge slip - apron. Located south of China Basin, San Francisco. This example was used by the Santa Fe RR to load freight railcars upon barges. Image used by the ferry slip article. Notes on the historical significance of this slip may be found there. The bridge towers in the background are part of the western span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
