RAF stations are not chiefly protected from intruders by the RAF Regiment. This task has historically fallen to the RAF Police and duty personnel of any trade. Increasingly, the Military Police Guard Service fulfil this role. The RAF Regiment's task of airfield defence takes place in a deployed environment; in the UK they have a training role.
Installations such as Remote Radar Heads are not RAF stations. RAF stations are always manned and even some manned RAF units are not granted the status of being a station. Greenshed 17:16, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
