Rowena is an unincorporated community in Minnehaha County, South Dakota along South Dakota State Highway 42.
Rowena is located at , just over a mile north of the border with Iowa, about 5 miles east of Sioux Falls, and 5 miles west of the Minnesota border, at an elevation of 1,411 feet (430 meters). The ZIP Code is 57056.

Two of the South Dakota's tallest structures have been located near Rowena: the 609.6 meter high KDLT Tower, and the slightly shorter KELO TV Tower.

Rowena was founded on October 17, 1888. Farming is the traditional activity of Rowena.
According to an 1895 atlas, Rowena had a population of 126 people. According to the 1950 census, Rowena had a population of 70. The United States Census Bureau no longer tracks Rowena as a separate community.
Actress Mamie Van Doren was born in Rowena.
