Rotary vacuum filter drum processes start with a pre-coat usually consisting of diatomaceous earth (DE) or other types of filter aid. After pre-coat has been applied, a broth is sent to the bed of the drum. The drum skims the surface of the broth as vacuum picks up waste and allows for filtrate to be sucked through a vacuum receiver. The filtrate is pumped to the next step of the process and the waste, or cake is cut/scraped off the drum and sent to a trailer or bin.
