Description

Plaque in front of the Rothamsted agricultural research centre in Harpenden, England, commemorating 50 years of operation. The plaque reads: "To commemorate the completion of fifty years of continuous experiments (the first of their kind) in agriculture conducted at Rothamsted by Sir John Bennet Lawes and Joseph Henry Gilbert. A.D. MDCCCXCIII."
The signs below read:
"This plaque was unveiled by Her Mayesty the Queen on 30th July 19[?]93." and

"The nearby oak was planted by the Royal agricultural society of England to mark the 150th anniversary of the start of the Rothamsted experiments".
