[edit] Summary
Description:
Schematic representation of a rotating disc, from which a small "fountain" ejects squirts of water. The "fountain" is represented by the blue dot that remains on the rim of the disc. On the left the motion as seen from a non-rotating point of view, on the right the motion as seen from a point of view that is co-rotating with the disc. The squirts of water are in inertial motion; no force is acting on the squirts of water.
The left-side part of this animation is the same as Image:Rotating_fountain_coriolis_effect01.gif, the right-side part is the same as Image:Rotating_fountain_coriolis_effect02.gif.
Image:Rotating_fountain_coriolis_effect03.gif is a sequence of 6 images, each depicting the centrifugal term and the coriolis term of the equation of motion for motion with respect to a rotating coordinate system.
