Ronald Allen Smith is a Canadian man who was sentenced to death in the United States for killing two people simply, as he put it, because he wanted to know what it was like to kill someone.
Canada chose not to seek clemency in his case and allowed him to be receive the death penalty.
This case set a precedent which makes it difficult for the Canadian government to stop Saudi Arabis from executing a Canadian man, Mohamed Kohail, 23, who is accused of murder in Saudi Arabia. As of March, 2008, the Saudi government announced plans to publicly execute him by beheading him. [1]
