Romel Gharahedaghi born on 31 MAY 1979, started his athletic life with the sporting academy of CSKA where he developed as a known youth athlete winning numerous national and Eastern Block Commonwealth medals in the period 1978 - 1983.
His youth career culminates initially with the win of the 800 m. national title which he defended successfully over the next two years.
