Rome News-Tribune is the local daily newspaper of Rome, Georgia. Begun originally as a weekly newspaper, the paper has survived several merges with other newspapers. Aside from several months during the Civil War, the paper has been published continuously since 1843.[3] It is owned by the News Publishing Company.[1]

In an editorial in November 2007, the paper criticized a prosecutor's decision to prosecute a local comic book store owner on obscenity charges.[5] The charges were later dismissed. The editorial was linked to by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.[6].
