The term Romber is a portmanteau of the first names for serial reality TV contestants Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich. The two first appeared on separate seasons of Survivor (seasons 4 and 2 respectively. It was on Survivor: All-Stars that the two met and became a couple. It was the couple's two stints as a team on The Amazing Race that earned the couple their 'team' nickname of Romber.
