The match was played on "Republicii" Stadium (which was demolished by Ceausescu to make room for Palace of the Parliament). Dinamo attacked furiously in the first half of hour and they missed a lot of occasions when Metalul Resita's striker Ştefan Szeleş scored twice ('30, '40), finalizing 2 fast counterattacks. Dinamo hardly tried to get back into the match but simply wasn't meant to happened, Metalul's players holding their ground and marching to a legendary victory.
