From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Archiocese of Cashel and Emly(Irish: Deoise Chaiseal agus Imleach ) consists of two entities: The Diocese of Cashel was established in the tenth century and was promoted to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Cashel in 1152.[1] The diocese has been united since 1718. The geographic area covered includes most of County Tipperary and parts of County Limerick.

Since this unification occurred after the Reformation, it is not surprising that in the Church of Ireland, the two entities are not united into the same diocese. Cashel is contained within Cashel, Waterford, Lismore, Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin and is referred to as the Diocese of Cashel and Ossory. Emly is found within Limerick, Killaloe, Kilfenora, Clonfert, Kilmacduagh and Emly and is called the Diocese of Limerick and Killaloe.
