• March 7, 1863: Established as Diocese of Barquisimeto from the Diocese of Mérida
• August 14, 1867: Suppressed to the Diocese of Coro y Barquisimeto
• October 22, 1869: Restored as Diocese of Barquisimeto from the Diocese of Coro y Barquisimeto
• April 30, 1966: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Barquisimeto
