Rollerskate Land
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rollerskate Land was a roller skating rink located in Santee, California, USA. The facility opened on December 6, 1978 and was originally owned and operated by Carol and Noble "Butch" Craver. The smaller of its two maple skating floors was converted into a Laser Storm laser tag arena, which opened on June 24, 1992 and underwent remodeling in 2001. The Craver family sold the business to longtime manager Ness Gammo in 2005, although Carol stayed on as an employee.
Unable to renew its lease due to the property owners' desire to redevelop, the rink closed on April 7, 2007. The facility, along with the adjacent buildings, are currently undergoing demolition and will be replaced with a strip mall anchored by a Henry's Farmers Market.
The Craver family also owned and operated the rink's sister location in Chula Vista, CA, which closed in June 2007.
