"Roll Tide" is a dramatic, militaristic piece of orchestral music composed by Hans Zimmer for the film Crimson Tide.
The piece of music is widely regarded as one of Hans Zimmer's finest compositions,[citation needed] and its powerful, epic and Wagnerian style has often been emulated in many subsequent film scores. "Roll Tide" is also notable for its many appearances in movie trailers, including the trailers for Independence Day, The Saint, Armageddon, and others.
The name of the song is copied from the rallying cry of the University of Alabama, whose athletics teams are known as the Crimson Tide.
The Symphonic Metal band, Nightwish, has covered this song.
