Rolanet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rolanet (Robotron Local Area Network) was a networking standard, developed in the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) and introduced in 1987 by the computer manufacturer Robotron. It enabled computer networking over coax cable and glass fiber with a range of 1000 meters. Networking speed was 500 kB/s, comparable to other standards of the day. A maximum of 253 computers could be connected using Rolanet.
