Talk:Rogue Traders
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I think we need a picture for the band line up it seems to have gone missing... I was thinking maybe this one [1] Mjcrow 07:22, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
I've just re-instated the section..
"Like many other modern music acts, the Rogue Traders use elements of old songs in their music. However, rather than sampling the original songs, they re-record the relevent parts. "Voodoo Child" contains a re-recorded riff from Pump it up by Elvis Costello. "Watching you" contains re-recorded elements of My Sharona by The Knack."
A previous edit took out half the information, so it no longer made any sense. Mr_Staypuft
Hi, just wondering, why is the 2nd paragraph called SonyBMG? I think another title might be more appropriate!
The 4th point under "facts about RT" _used_ to say "The album Here Come The Drums contains a secret message, involving amphibians."
But NOW it says "The album Here Come The Drums contains a secret message, involving killing the 'Crazy Frog'."
I think the former is better, as the 2nd option GIVES THE SECRET AWAY - so there's no surprise for the listener.
Anyone else? Mr_Staypuft

I agree!

The majority of information on this page seems to be very subjective (is. "smash singles"), thus it tends to read more like a promo piece and not a source of information as it should be. Perhaps more references could be used, as well as more critiquing of information and an objective viewpoint, rather than a carbon copy of some teenager's fansite? As it stands now, a "blind" article as such tends to only damage both the credibility of the wikipedia and the band.
[edit] Facts... section
I have removed this section.
- James Ash regularly checks into the Official forum to see what's going on and to answer fan questions.
-
- I don't think this belongs in an encyclopedia.
- The bands inspiration behind their name came from a movie titled Rogue Trader
-
- Moved to intro paragraph
- The album Here Come The Drums contains a secret message, involving a famous amphibian.
-
- This might belongs in the album's article, but not in the band's article.
- The Rogue Traders announced in early 2006 that they had signed with the UK/European division of SonyBMG and will be releasing there early July 2006. The first single was Voodoo Child.
-
- Thanks to 220.238.148.239 (whoever you are!) for writing a whole section on this.
- A Possible release of Here Come The Drums in the US might occur if the album does well in the UK and throughout Europe.

[edit] Second image unneccessary
The article currently has two images, both of which are of the same subject. The one that isn't in the infobox should be removed, and the one in the infobox should be replaced by an image of the band, not just the lead singer. 68.146.41.232 (talk) 22:06, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
