Dear Roderick, Welcome to Wikipedia!

I notice that you have placed a (c) Roderick Eime beneath the new photograph of Kaikoura ( Image:Kaikoura 8089 300px.jpg ). This is likely to result in someone removing the photo on the basis of it being a copyright violation.

Wikipedia is published under the GNU Free Documentation License, which basically allows unlimited downstream copying so long as there is a source attribution.

See Wikipedia:Copyright and GFDL for the specifics. If you wish to retain copyright to your photograph, you may not want it to appear in Wikipedia. If you are willing to release it under GFDL, please remove the (c) Roderick Eime and palce a release note on the image's documentation page. (most users learn fairly quickly to click an image to see extra data about it).

Regards, dramatic 18:37, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The same applies also to the image you posted on Galapagos Islands. Regards, Eleassar777 11:40, 13 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bird of Paradse photo

Hi,

I have been doing some work on New Guinea fauna, and have noticed a lack of photos. Your bird of paradise photo is great, but it was uploaded years ago when there were restrictions on the size. Would you be able to upload a larger one? Thanks --liquidGhoul 09:21, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Sirgeorgehubertwilkins1948.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sirgeorgehubertwilkins1948.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Svencb 23:15, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Expedition cruising

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Expedition cruising, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Expedition cruising. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:MV True North.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:MV True North.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:55, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of MV Lyubov Orlova

A tag has been placed on MV Lyubov Orlova, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Harland1 (t/c) 11:39, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I don't get it. It was tagged as spam and wiped. Can you explain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodeime (talkcontribs) 05:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

The fact of this being a real ship is not in doubt. The difficulty is that the article reads as an advertisement for the ship and its facilities. If you feel that you can rewrite it in such a way as to avoid this, let me know and I will happily restore the article to enable you to correct it. On a different matter, could I ask you to sign your messages? You do this by adding ~~~~ after the text. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 18:16, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Please do. Also be aware I have no commercial interest in creating advertisements. I'm just trying to expand the expedition cruising fleet on WP. Thanks. Rodeime (talk) 06:26, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.iaato.org/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 12:07, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Eyre highway

And other locations - you need to consider very carefully why your edits are not WP:COI if you are inserting links to your own commercial activity? I would imagine that some editors would revert without asking - if you are editing in wikipedia - and you user name is the same as the external link - SatuSuro 23:25, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators

A tag has been placed on International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jeepday (talk) 03:12, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
