I have just removed a large portion of this article due to its lack of encyclopedic content. This section was full of spelling and grammar errors, weasel words, original research, and unsourced claims.

Some examples of text I removed:

  • This kind of study and generalising is completely useless for the Roberts surname. (opinion, original research)
  • It was never Welsh given as some web sites wrongly suggest. (without any source to back up the claim)
  • Some have made studies on the distribution of the surname in old maps and have assumed that all Roberts families originated in North Wales! True it was popular there... (again unsourced, and using weasel words, as well as what seems to be original research)

If anyone feels as though I removed material in error, please discuss it here before reinstating the removed paragraphs so that we can decide together the best way to fix this article. If anyone has good information about the name Roberts, with sources to back it up, any attention you can give to this article would be greatly appreciated by all, I'm sure.
