Robert Noortman didnt sell his gallery for 1,000,000.00 Sotherby's bought it but for much more than this, whilst he remained chairman. He bid for Turner's Giudecca, La Donna della Salute and San Giorgio painted in 1840 up to $30,000,000.00 but was bitten by another buyer who bought it for $35,800,000.00
