Robin Buchanan

Robin Buchanan is the Dean of London Business School. Until September 2007, he spent 25 years at Bain & Company. He became Managing Partner of Bain in the UK in 1990 and became Senior Partner in 1996. He also served as a member of its Management Committee, Compensation Committee and chair of its Nominating Committee to the Board of Directors.

He headed Bain's worldwide Acquisitions & Alliances business, and the London Organisational Enhancement and Change Management businesses.

From 1979 to 1982 Robin worked for American Express International Banking Corporation. Prior to that he worked at Mann Judd Landau (now Deloitte & Touche) and McKinsey & Company. He is a director of Liberty International plc, where he chairs the Remuneration Committee and sits on the Audit and Nominations Committees. He is also a director of Shire plc and sits on its Remuneration Committee. He is a member of the Professional Standards Advisory Board of the Institute of Directors and also of the Trilateral Commission.

Robin was awarded an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.
