Robert X. Golphin (born February 2 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American actor/filmmaker who portrayed the role of Dunbar Reed in The Great Debaters. He has also appeared in the films Rounding First and The Beautiful Ordinary, as well as the HBO series The Wire. He was a production assistant on the CBS series Hack. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Theater and Film from Saint Augustine's College in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is also an alumnus of The Philadelphia High School for The Creative & Performing Arts.
Golphin was the recipient of the 2007 Irene Parisi (2nd Prize) Award for Best Screenwriter 25 Years Old & Younger for an original feature length script at the Set In Philadelphia Screenplay Competition, and was presented the award by Academy Award nominated screenwriter Stephen J.
