Robert John Reed has been Senator of the College of Justice since 1998. Prior to his appointment as a judge he practised principally in the areas of public and European law. He sat as an ad hoc judge of the European Court of Human Rights during 1999, and acted as an expert adviser to the European Union Initiative with Turkey on Democratisation and Human Rights between 2002 and 2004.
He is an honorary Professor of Law at Glasgow Caledonian University and at the University of Glasgow.
