Robert Clifford

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Clifford (born 8 March 1752 at Bearsted in Kent; died 18 April 1811 at Bearsted) was a noted English cricket all-rounder who played mainly for Kent from 1777 to 1792. He made 74 known first-class appearances.

Little is known about Robert Clifford apart from what the scorecards tell us. He is believed to have bowled right arm slow although he was a left handed bat. In Early Kent Cricketers, he is described as "the famous Clifford" from a report in a Kent county newspaper.
