Sir Robert Bruce, 3rd Baron of Clackmannan & Rate (d. c.1436) was the son of Sir Thomas Bruce, 1st Baron of Clackmannan and Marjorie Charteris of Stenhouse.

Robert Bruce was born in Clackmannan, Scotland the son of Scottish nobility. He married the daughter of John Scrimgeour of Dudhope with whom he had a son David. Sir Robert Bruce's also had another son, Thomas Bruce, Earl of Wester Kennet, whose descendants would later on form a union with the descendants of Sir David Bruce, 7th Baron of Clackmannan. Sir David Bruce, 7th Baron of Clackmannan was a direct descendant of Sir Robert Bruce and was also the ancestor of the Bruces of Kennet through his son David Bruce of Green.
