Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise was formed in 1994 when former members of the band Second Self came across a blind street performer by the name of Robert Bradley. They were struck by the intensity and soulfulness of his voice and asked him to record some tracks with them. After that, they decided to form the band.
The band's sound is somewhere between blues, soul, and alternative rock. The blues and soul come mainly from Bradley's end of it - he is the leading musical force within the band - with the more alternative sound coming from the other band members. The result is something not quite blues, not quite soul, not quite rock.
Robert Bradley was also featured on the Kid Rock track "I Got One For Ya" from his Devil Without a Cause album.
